Here are a few nuggets of wisdom, acquired from the experience of singing in well directed choirs. I like how these can apply by analogy to much of life. I leave it to you to do your own analogizing.
- Always bring a pencil. Use it.
- Diligence and discipline set you free to sing from the heart.
- The only way to improve at sight reading is to sight read.
- Don't depend on your neighbors. You'll copy their mistakes.
- Help your neighbor.
- When your neighbor corrects you, say thank you.
- Know your part. Know how it fits. Be prepared.
- In concert be courteous by NOT singing when you're not sure.
- In a big hall trust what you see, not what you hear.
- Look! Listen! Adjust to the moment!
- Trust the conductor.
- After the performance you can't fix the little errors, so leave them behind.
